Why we built a Task Manager: Identifying "Zombie Processes"
Web apps often hide "zombie processes" that eat your RAM and CPU. Learn how weballoon’s new Task Manager helps you identify and kill them before they slow down your Mac or Linux.

Every time a web app sends a notification, it isn't just an alert—it's a context switch. Studies show it can take over 20 minutes to return to deep focus after a minor interruption. When your browser is a source of constant pings from Slack, Gmail, WhatsApp, and project tools, you aren't working; you’re reacting. The problem with standard browsers is that notifications are scattered. They pop up over your work, disappear into a hidden system tray, or hide behind a tab you can’t find. This leads to "notification fatigue"—the feeling of being constantly overwhelmed by digital noise.
In weballoon, we believe notifications should be available when you want them, not just when an app wants to talk to you. Instead of hunting through tabs to see what triggered a sound, weballoon centralizes every alert into one panel. By hitting Shift+N, you can toggle a dedicated notification window. This allows you to stay inside your current application while checking your messages. It removes the need to "jump" between apps just to see if a ping was important, keeping your eyes on the task at hand.
Not every app deserves your attention at 10:00 AM. In your weballoon workspace settings, you have granular control over which applications are allowed to send alerts.
Notification fatigue happens when you feel like you've lost control. By using a centralized panel and per-app permissions, you shift from a reactive state to a proactive one. You choose when to check the panel. You choose which apps have permission to break your silence. A calmer desktop isn't just about how things look; it’s about how they behave. When you silence the noise, you create the space necessary for deep, meaningful work.
